Milk is love. Exhibition with moms breastfeeding "For the love of the little ones" at the Philanthropy Hospital
Philanthropy Hospital ended the World Breastfeeding Week fast with a pro-breastfeeding workshop and by opening a photographic exhibition on breastfeeding.
Photographer Cristina Nichituş Roncea gave to the Philanthropy Hospital 50 photos from the project "Breastfeeding and Love", for the exhibition, entitled "Out of love for the little ones". The event was organized with the help of the Association of Breastfeeding Consultants in Romania, the One and One Association and the Photography Studio – Kids & Family, and the surprise guest who shared his experience regarding breastfeeding was the TV presenter Ioana Maria Moldovan.
The exhibition of photographs with mothers breastfeeding in the national port, made at the National Museum of the Village Dimitrie Gusti, becomes permanent on the premises of the Clinical Hospital of Obstetrics-Gynecology Philanthropy Bucharest, to serve as an example for young mothers. According to international studies, it even increases children's intelligence.
The recommendations of the World Health Organization regarding breastfeeding provide for the exclusive feeding of children with breast milk from birth until the age of 6 months. Romania still has a small percentage of mothers who come to fulfill this recommendation. Unfortunately, the biggest barrier to increasing this percentage is precisely the lack of breastfeeding education for mothers.
The increase of the breastfeeding rate in Romania depends to a large extent on the education of mothers. Breast milk is not only a well-being provider for the baby, but also the most significant gesture of love.
We also present some of the wonderful breastfeeding photographs taken by the photographer Cristina Nichituş Roncea.
