Prosecutors demand the maximum sentence for Piedone, in the Collective file. The former mayor claims that he is innocent: "If my kids were in the club I would have said the same, that I didn't make a mistake

Prosecutors of the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) demanded the maximum punishment, ie 15 years of imprisonment, for the former mayor of Sector 4 Cristian Popescu-Piedone, in the Collective case, at the Bucharest Court on Monday. At the same time, Piedone upheld his innocence.

"In the education I received, I learned to tell the truth, not to lie and to acknowledge where I went wrong. I told the truth and I have nothing to admit because in this situation I did nothing wrong. If my kids were at the club that night, I would have told you that I was wrong. If anyone considers me guilty, consider the more than 300 mayors who signed the same as me, "said the former mayor of Sector 4.

The Bucharest Court started the final debates in the Collective file on Monday, in which the former mayor of Sector 4 Cristian Popescu-Piedone and the club's patrons are tried.

At this time of trial the part of the file is discussed in which four defendants are tried: former mayor Cristian Popescu – Piedone, as well as three officials from the City Hall – Aurelia Iofciu (head of the Commercial Authorization Service), Larisa Luminita Ganea (senior counselor), Ramona Sandra Motoc (top referrer).

The DNA prosecutor asked for the conviction of the four defendants for abuse in service with particularly serious consequences, following that the punishments should be oriented to the maximum provided by the criminal law, which is 15 years. The prosecutor told the judge dealing with this case that the defendants did not acknowledge their guilt.

The DNA representative explained that Piedone was obliged to verify that the required approval, including the missing PSI opinion, was attached to the request for authorization to operate the Collective club. Moreover, at the request submitted by the club administrators, no environmental notice and no building permit were attached.

The prosecutor said that the former mayor violated GD 1,739 / 2006 and Law 307/2006 on fire protection and issued the operating agreement and authorization for SC Colectiv Club SRL, although the club was not authorized for fire safety.

In the following days, the parts of the Collective file will also be debated, in which the club's owners and pyrotechnists are indicted.
