Several tuberculosis patients were transported to the polling station by a school bus. Authorities have started an investigation
An investigation is being conducted at the Bisericani sanatorium, in Alexandru cel Bun commune, Neamt county after several tuberculosis patients were taken to the polling station with a school bus. The disease is highly contagious, which is why the affected people must be isolated.
The patients asked for the mobile ballot box, but when they saw that they were not brought, they asked to be transported to the polling station. As there were no special transport cars, they were taken with a school bus that was disinfected after the scandal broke out.
As a result, an investigation was initiated by the Neamt Public Health Directorate to determine if the sanitary rules were violated. The management of the hospital can be fined with 10,000 lei because it allowed the patients to leave the hospital without a special means of transport.
The transmission of tuberculosis is almost exclusively respiratory, through the small drops of saliva eliminated by the patient with pulmonary tuberculosis through coughing, sneezing or even speaking. The disease is not transmitted by contact with objects or clothing worn by the patient with tuberculosis. Patients with pulmonary tuberculosis who have had a positive microscopic examination are contagious until they are diagnosed and begin treatment. After starting the treatment, they quickly become non-contagious within a few days. It is advisable to isolate and monitor them for 2 weeks after starting treatment in the hospital or at home
