The best food for the brain. Drug-drug that prevents dementia
Those who eat fish have more gray matter in the area responsible for memory, according to new research.
The study was published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine and was based on the observation of 260 volunteers. They wrote about the diet they had and then underwent tests on the MRI.
Researchers have noticed that subjects who ate fish or cooked fish each week had more gray matter, and that means they also had a better memory.
However, the study did not show a link between the amount of gray matter in the brain and the level of omega 3 fatty acids in the blood of subjects.
Previous studies suggested that these fatty acids in fish prevent cognitive decline.
But more recent research has disputed this theory, because supplements with omega 3 fatty acids have no role in memory.
Therefore, another fish has a beneficial effect, not just omega 3, say researchers, who point out that diet is really important for health.
