What daily habits predispose us to CANCER
People who consume hot drinks and drink alcohol every day may have a fivefold risk of developing a lethal form of cancer, according to a study in China, quoted by the Press Association.
The association between oesophageal cancer, alcohol and smoking has been confirmed by scientists, but in the new study, researchers have found that the risk of developing this condition is increased by the frequent use of hot drinks.
Esophageal cancer is one of the forms of tumors with the lowest survival rate. Every year, in the UK, about 9,211 people are diagnosed with esophageal cancer, and 7,800 die from this.
Approximately 15% of patients who develop this type of cancer are still alive five years after diagnosis, according to Agerpres.
The new warning comes from China, where scientists monitored 456,155 study participants aged between 30 and 79 for nine years.
Individuals who had hot tea daily but also alcohol or regular alcoholic drinks were more likely to develop esophageal cancer than those who were limiting to tea at room temperature.
